Scholarship Overview

Pioneer Military Credit proudly supports military spouses through its Homefront Scholars Scholarship Program, which is designed to invest in education and career growth on the home front.

The program offers two opportunities each year for military spouses to win a $1,000 scholarship. The Fall Scholarship entry period runs from January through June, with the scholarship awarded in August. The Spring Scholarship entry period runs from July through December, with the scholarship awarded in February of the following year. Military spouses are eligible to apply for one or both scholarship opportunities each year.

Scholarship funds may be used toward tuition, fees, books, or other educational expenses. Through Homefront Scholars, Pioneer Military Credit honors the resilience of military spouses and helps reduce financial barriers to their academic journey.

Scholarship Calendar (Important Dates)

  • Spring 2026 Scholarship entries closed on December 31, 2025. The winner will be announced in February 2026.
  • Fall 2026 Scholarship entries are NOW OPEN through June 30, 2026. The winner will be announced in August 2026.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants applying for the Homefront Scholars scholarship must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • 18 years of age or older (as of the ending entry date of each scholarship session)
  • Legally married spouse of an Active-Duty, National Guard/Reserve, Career-Retired, or Medically Retired service member (as of the ending entry date of each scholarship session)
  • Currently enrolled or accepted to be enrolled in an accredited college, university, or technical/vocational school (as of the award selection date of each scholarship session)
  • Pursuing a degree or certificate program (associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral equivalent degrees or technical/vocational program certificate/diploma)

Terms and Conditions

By applying, you agree to the following terms:

  • One entry per person, per scholarship session (2 sessions per year). Applicant must submit a new application for each session. Winners are not eligible to enter again.
  • Entries are reviewed and the winner selected by a Pioneer Military Credit advisory board, which includes military spouses. The advisory board’s decision is final and not subject to review.
  • Scholarship selection shall not be made regarding race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, national origin, disability, or any other category protected by federal, state, or local law.
  • Proof of military spouse affiliation, enrollment, and academic achievements is not required with the initial application, but may be requested at the time of winner review and selection. Applicant must provide any needed verification within 7 days of the request to be eligible to secure the scholarship. Pioneer Military Credit reserves the right to request additional documentation at the time of selection.
  • Essay content must be original. Plagiarized or AI-generated content will disqualify the applicant.
  • The $1,000 scholarship award will be paid directly to the recipient.
  • Winner grants Pioneer Military Credit the right to use their name, military affiliation, essay excerpts, and photo for promotional purposes.
  • Employees and contractors of Pioneer Military Credit, as well as their immediate family members, are not eligible to apply.
  • All information collected will be subject to our Privacy Policy.

Pioneer Military Credit reserves the right to modify, revise, or update the eligibility and terms and conditions from time to time. Although Pioneer Military Credit may attempt to notify prospective and current applicants when such changes are made, applicants are advised to periodically review this site for the most up-to-date version. Pioneer Military Credit may, in its sole discretion, change or discontinue this scholarship opportunity at any time. Applicant’s submissions serve as acknowledgement and acceptance of these terms and conditions, including modifications as stated. Nothing in the terms and conditions shall be deemed to confer any third-party rights or benefits.

Yes! Online, in-person, and hybrid programs are all acceptable if the institution is accredited.

No minimum GPA is required to apply; however, overall academic achievements are considered during the selection process.

The winning applicant will be notified via email or phone in August (Fall Scholarship) and February (Spring Scholarship). Please provide accurate contact information in your application.

Yes. We encourage applicants to apply again each scholarship session for another opportunity to earn a scholarship. Please note that past scholarship winners are not eligible to apply again.
